Review: Star Daughter

Star Daughter Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

There were aspects of this novel that I really liked but others that I didn't. The concept of the star daughter is awesome, as is the star thief story, as is the idea of a competition--all set in a modern and mythical hindu firmament; however, I couldn't jump as fast from Sheetal's emotional, teenagery reactions to some really heavy stuff to her equally emotional, teenagery reactions to her glittery siderial surroundings. I wished that Thakrar had spent more time on building relationships.
It's a clean read, with some kissing and yearning. The girlfriend/boyfriend Sheetal/Dev interactions are sweet. It's also a stand alone novel.
I wonder if I were still a teenager would I have liked it more?
